Our Core Purpose

Core Purpose – this is what we expect all children and families to achieve by the time they leave.

The Child
Children will be happy, independent, confident and have high self-esteem. They will be kept safe, learn healthy habits and have high well-being. They will build new relationships with other people. They will be effective learners, be challenged in their learning and participate in new experiences. They are resilient.

Early Years Foundation Stage Standards

They will achieve at least 3 phases of development in the prime areas over a year. All children will leave working at the developmental age 30 to 50 months in all areas of learning and development and most (90%) will achieve 40-60 months (working within).

Family and Community

Families will have a sense of being supported and belonging to a community. Family relationships are valued and strengthened. Parents have high aspirations for their families. They begin to understand and are involved in their child’s learning and development and know how to keep their children safe and teach their children healthy habits.  Parents have respect for their own lives, beliefs and those of others. They have a high sense of well- being, feel valued and empowered to contribute to society socially and economically. They are resilient.

Mission Statement

Together we play, talk, listen and learn
Mission statement
Edith Kerrison is a warm, calm and friendly school and children’s centre working for the community. We want everyone to form positive harmonious relationships and to feel  confident, safe and secure. This will ensure well-being is high and learning is the focus of our work.
  • We work with parents, children and families to develop friendships, trust and respect.
  • We play in ways that provide opportunities for exploration, creativity, thinking and challenge.
  • We talk to communicate and express our thoughts, ideas and feelings.
  • We listen attentively to others’ ideas and views, enjoying learning and responding to our world.
  • We learn by persevering; we are aspirational; we empower and develop ourselves and community.
